The Casino Goa The Casino Goa is a live casino located offshore in Panaji in Goa. The casino is located on a yacht, the M.V. Caravela, anchored in the River Mandovi. The casino vessel worth is 110 million Rupees and is owned by the Advani Pleasure Cruise Co Ltd as a joint venture between the company and Casinos Austria. Casino Carnival is located on two different venues, one being the Goa Marriott beach and the other, a cruise casino on the Mandovi River. Known for its lavish setup, the casino is spread across 4 decks and with its exclusive Entertainment Deck, it can easily claim to be the best casino in Goa. Casino owners from Singapore, Macau and Las Vegas have evinced interest in Goa's casinos. In the last few months, Mody claims he has got several calls from these foreign casino operators to tie up for technology, branding, marketing, and even running the operations.
Delta Corp Limited, previously known as Arrow Webtex Ltd., is an Indian gaming and hospitality corporation that owns and operates casinos and hotels under several brands. It is India’s only listed company engaged in casino (live, electronic and online) gaming. They are the largest player in organised gaming, their first-mover advantage across the under-penetrated industry in India has enabled them to secure a leadership position in the Indian gaming and entertainment industry. It runs the majority of the offshore casinos on Panaji, Goa. It is the largest gaming company in India with a revenue of ₹INR 4829.10 Cr.[2]

Delta Corp Limited was incorporated as a privately held company under the name Creole Holdings Company Pvt Ltd on 5 November 1985. The company became a deemed public limited company with the acquisition of shares by Finolex group and the name was changed to Creole Holdings Company Ltd on 2 June 1992. During the year 2003-04, Finolex Cables Ltd divested their shareholding in the company and thus the company ceased to be a subsidiary. On 25 September 2003, the company was converted into a private limited company.[3] In 2007, the company changed its name to Arrow Webtex Ltd. In 2008, the company once again changed its name to Delta Corp Limited, which is currently used.[4]

Entertainment and Gaming[edit]
On 1 December 2015, Delta Corp Limited announced that it had been granted a license to operate a casino at its Deltin Suite in Goa.[5] On 6 April 2016, the Government of Goa extended the company's offshore casino license to operate casinos on the Mandovi River until 31 March 2017.[6] Deltin owns three offshore casinos in Goa, making it a dominant player there. It also owns a number of casinos in Goa, namely Deltin Royale, Deltin JAQK, Deltin Caravela and one luxury hotel, Deltin Suites. In March 2014, the company launched The Deltin a INR 4,000,000,000 property which is India's largest integrated casino resort in Daman, named as The Deltin. Since these casino gaming vessels are anchored on Mandovi River in Goa, Delta Corp has acquired jetties (Betim, Reis Magos, Barcolento) and six feeder boats in order to ferry its customers from the main land to the offshore casinos.[7] In July 2016, the company acquired a temporary license to operate casinos in Gangtok, Sikkim.[8] Through the acquisition of online poker site Adda52.com, they established their presence in India’s online gaming business. In a recent development, Delta Corporation, has announced that it has acquired shares in Halaplay Technologies Pvt. Ltd, the company which operates Halaplay, a fantasy sports website.
Deltin Royale

With five operational decks, Deltin Royale is Asia’s largest offshore gaming vessel and a premium casino. It offers 964+ gaming positions spread across 65,000 sq. ft. comprising 120+ gaming tables, 4 VVIP gaming rooms, and 60+ slot machines. Deltin JAQK
Operational since 2008, Deltin JAQK, with four decks, caters primarily to the value-oriented segment. It is spread across 40,000 sq. ft. and has a separate VIP gaming area, and offers 431+ gaming positions, comprising 50+ gaming tables and 15+ slot machines. It provides entertainment for the entire family, with a dedicated playroom and a crèche for toddlers. The casino is also equipped with an aqua bar and two VIP suites.
Deltin Caravela
It is an affordable gaming destination with 217+ gaming positions, spread across 25,000 sq. ft.
Jalesh Cruises
Delta Corp owns the right to operate and manage the casino on the first cruise vessel and also the right to operate casinos in all further cruise vessels of Jalesh.
Deltin Denzong
To expand gaming footprint to other regions, they partnered with Hotel Welcome Heritage Denzong Regency to set up a casino in Sikkim. The casino, which services the eastern region of India, offers 206+ gaming positions and is spread across 15,000 sq. ft. gaming area and has a separate VIP gaming area.
Deltin Nepal
They have joined hands with Nepal-based Everest Hospitality and Hotel Pvt. Ltd. to operate a casino in the 235-room 5-star Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu. This is in line with the Company’s strategy of expanding its imprint in the region. The casino is spread across 15,000 sq. ft. and has 220+ gaming positions, with a separate VIP gaming area.
Hospitality[edit]
Delta Corp currently owns one hotel in Goa and one in Daman:
- Deltin Suites is a 106-room all-suite hotel and casino in Goa, with a gaming area aggregating 1,000 sq. ft. with 59+ gaming positions, located at a distance of 5–10 minutes from the popular Candolim and Calangute beaches, it is close to the boarding points for the offshore casinos.
- The Deltin, Daman is a 176-room five-star deluxe property and the largest integrated resort spread over 10 acres, with 3,00,000 sq. ft. of developed area. It offers the largest banquet facility in the area, with three bars, four specialty restaurants, 27,000 sq. ft. of indoor event catering to Weddings and MICE space, and 8,000 sq. ft. high-end retail space. The hotel is a 2.5-hour drive from Mumbai, and a similar driving distance from major cities in Gujarat.
The company also owns a 35% equity share in Advani Hotels & Resorts India Limited. However, this is not operated or controlled by Delta Corp.

Chef Mohammed Farooq Baig is currently working at The Zuri White Sands, Goa Resort & Casino for the past 8 years. Located in Varca, Chef Baig enjoys working there. He has experience of working in the Middle East and also on the ship.
His inspiration to become a chef began in his childhood as he had a habit of serving people. His brother being a foodie suggested Chef Baig to join the hotel industry where he could learn something and he could deliver different cuisines. Curious about it, Chef Baig landed up in the hotel industry and it has been almost 25 years he has been in the culinary industry.
The key secret to success, according to Chef Baig is passion. Second would be integrity. He adds, “Through there is passion there should be love also. So these 3 things, when you combine together, helps you reach your goal or the opportunity you are looking out for. Chefs are a breed apart. You need a hint of madness and extreme passion to tread the path to the top. Be ready to experiment and for some long working hours.”
With regards to changes in the courses of IHM, Chef Baig suggests, “The dynamics of the industry has evolved to meet the changing demands of the guests today. However the syllabus continues to be the same. So we need to make it relevant. The faculties need frequent real time exposure with what is trending. From my point of view, as an Executive Chef, I started as a trainee. The only work I was given, as a trainee, was cleaning, washing things, washing vegetables, bringing vegetables etc. The trainees are not coming to do this kind of work. They obviously, no doubt, have to learn to do these jobs as well. But on the other hand they should be given some responsibilities also. If 10 trainees are coming out of a hotel, out of those 10 you will find only 4 or 5 who are really interested. So the students need to be counseled so as to know what they really want to pursue so that the time spent is utilized in such a way that while going back they should feel ‘What I gained from this has really helped me a lot.’”
He expresses that authenticity should always be there. Once that is there then obviously the originality of that dish needs to be preserved. “If we talk authenticity of anything, for example, Biryani, we should be sticking to the recipe what our ancestors have taught us. Have a consistency on that. Social media has become so active and people go for the reviews they see. So these are a few things that a chef has to stick to, in order to really make a difference.”
To the other hoteliers he mentioned, “Your presence will make the difference. Be it at the shop floor or at key operational periods your constant presence will make the difference. Frame, develop and think of long lasting benefits. Small things will go long way. Monitor people, expenses, quality, operations and experience. I believe in standing on the floor, watching, helping and guiding the new comers, seniors as well as juniors. I feel you constantly need to be on the floor, supervise, help and guide them. That really is going to help.”

In the next 5 years, Chef Baig wants to have his own restaurant or his own entrepreneurship, like a fine dining, where he can showcase his talent and his food power.
In order to be in the first position, there has to be a total menu reworking based on the data analysis for the past 2 years. He also believes that preparation plus opportunity is the secret to Success. There is no other joy which can compare to the feeling one gets when seeing a guest overwhelmed and delighted and looking forward to come again to your hotel.
Chef Baig happily exclaims, “The management of my hotel approves of me going to other hotels and checking out what is going on or to see what is the trend that is going on there. I really appreciate this. You do not get this in all the hotels. Whatever we do, we are made answerable for our actions which builds the courage and self confidence that is very much required in our industry. I also talk to the guest and interact with them. For example, if I get to know that my guest is not happy with the service, my subordinates and my Sous Chefs and Outlet Chefs are given the freedom to give the guest what they are expecting.
Lastly he would like to add that, “We want to be back soon in action, and serve our guests who are really desperately looking out for holidays and weddings. We are so habitual with this profession that sitting at home really makes us feel something is missing. We need to go in the hotel and serve our guests, make them happy and get the smile back on their
