New York casinos, including del Lago Resort and Casino in Seneca County, can reopen Wednesday at 25% capacity.

Casinos must leave six feet of distance between operating machines. No table games will be allowed unless and until casinos put in place physical barriers between players and the Gaming Commission approves those barriers. No beverage or food service will be allowed on the gaming floor. The State Gaming Commission will be deployed to monitor casinos and ensure strict enforcement of these measures.

The governor added that masks and social distancing will be required and casinos must have proper air filtration systems in place before reopening.
Assemblyman Brian Manktelow released the following statement on the reopening:
“The governor’s announcement about re-opening the casinos on Sept. 9 is certainly welcome here because so many of the employees who work at del Lago live in my district. I want to thank Valerie McIntyre, a table games supervisor at del Lago, for her efforts to organize rallies in Waterloo, Albany and across the state to let the governor know that the casinos are ready to be back in business and can do it safely. It is our economy at stake. We must have people working and the casinos generating revenue for our municipalities.”
The COVID-19 pandemic has closed New York-run casinos for six months.
